A LITTLE BIT OF SMUT- A friend recommended a fun but off-the-rails romance book to me about a nanny who works for a rich man who used to be a top subscriber of her anonymous webcam show. Coming in at 432 pages, The Nanny by Lana Ferguson was just on the cusp of being too long. But, I was in the mood for something spicy, and this satisfied that need (puns intended).
I FEEL OLD- I adequately enjoyed this book, but I did not appreciate the author making 32 sound like it might as well be the new 82! The female main character is 25, and the male main character is 32. Throughout the book, the FMC references the MMC’s age as being so much older than her, and “old but not that old.” The overall vibe initially was, “Can I be with someone so old?” I recently celebrated my 30th birthday, so I might’ve taken this a bit personally.
BEACH READS- While the final portion of the book had me rolling my eyes at the plot, it was overall a deliciously unhinged read. If you’re looking for something fun and spicy to read on the beach this summer, consider adding this one to your list.
